Every single day I am grateful for getting to occasionally work with the artists I love. This was a piece I wrote during the Red Bull Sound Select Days. Brian Fallon and Jared Hart had recorded a few Gaslight and Scandals songs for a digital release.
“A couple of weeks ago, Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem brought Jared Hart, the young frontman of The Scandals, a punk band out of Bayonne, New Jersey, into a Manhattan studio to lay down some acoustic tracks. What developed was an unplugged five-song split release of these artists much-loved works, available to hear right now exclusively at the Red Bull Sound Select website.
Fallon, whose band will headline a Red Bull Sound Select showcase this Saturday in New York City with Dave Hause, The Scandals and Frances and the Foundation, chose ‘Handwritten,’ ‘She Loves You’ and ’45,’ all from the 2012 album ‘Handwritten.’
“We went in and laid down some tracks, and I played a little piano over it,” said Fallon. “I chose these songs because I thought I could do well on them and give them a new perspective.”
The NJ connection is always a nice touch too.
