Commercial Work

Over the past 12 years, I have had the opportunity to expand my  journalism and editorial abilities to commercial work for partners, mostly in the outdoor space but often beyond that.

Let’s tell your story.

Storytelling has always been my strength. Through some great working relationships, I have been able to tell stories for brands. Let’s face it, the more authentic the story, the better. And I enjoy learning about the products, particularly when they have environmentally friendly properties.

I’ve been tasked with web copy, product description, writing scripts, social media content, look books, directing brand video, developing campaigns, and telling ambassador’s stories for several brands, some of which I was already a supporter of. Sometimes it’s just a few taglines. Other times, it’s writing an entire catalog.

Among the brands I have worked with are Vans, Reef, Roxy, Olo Kai, Vuori, Digipower, Journeymen and the Tide Table Group.

The Camel Finds Water for Power & Motoryacht

“There’s something just so satisfying about bobbing around in the ocean on a boat you’ve resurrected from the ground up, knowing every nook and cranny as it hurls you forward on epic little adventures. It’s knowing the vessel’s story from beginning to end,” says Gordon. “Boats are funny that way; superstitions and folklore add to the depth of the experience.” This is a piece I did last year for the print version of Outboard Magazine. The publishing group did ...

It's amazing when you work with your friends creating content around projects that match your own beliefs.. This fall, Jetty launched their new Oystex apparel, made of recycled plastic water bottles and oyster shells. It diverts two products from the waste stream to create some fantastic threads. And of course, the oyster bit is an amazing fit since they support an oyster reef project in our local waters that also recycles used oyster shells. The Jetty crew tapped me to ...

Guide to Skateparks at the Jersey Shore for New Jersey Life

Every once in a while, New Jersey Monthly taps me for a little piece on things happening along the coast. They use the term "Jersey Shore," more than I'd like but all good. This one was a round up of the Skatepark of the New Jersey Shore, on offer north and south. There are a few that have opened in this time. Kind of a roadmap for me and Archie right now. Also a glaring reminder that LBI and Southern ...

Jetty // Welcome Mia Gallagher

The crew at Jetty are longtime friends and I love every project I get to do with them. When they signed young surfer Mia Gallagher of Ocean City, they had me produce a fun little video welcoming her to the family. Really seems like a great fit. We had some waves and ice cream on a summer day. Is there anything better than that? Shot by John Gilman and Tony Coon and edited by Coon for Jetty. https://youtu.be/6i1emve72Ow     ...

5 Best East Coast Hurricane Swells of All Time

By |August 2nd, 2020|Categories: Commercial Work|Comments Off on 5 Best East Coast Hurricane Swells of All Time

This summer I got all nostalgic for the Hurricane Season of '95. I was 20 years old, listening to punk, working in the back of restaurants and getting on the non-stop hurricane swells that were lining up off the equator. I saw Sublime and Quicksand that summer on the first Warp Tour and it set the tone for summers to come. Jimmicane In honor of the 25 year anniversary, Surfer had me put together this piece on the ...
