The start of 2018 has been one of the best of my career, loaded with fantastic projects. For this one in particular, I was hired as part of the Togetherness Agency as a copy writer/local project manager in rebranding, building five websites, bolstering social media, and creating a web store for the Tide Table Group. You may know them as the Mud City restaurants – Mud City Crab House, Parker’s Garage Ship Bottom Shellfish, The Black Whale, and the Old Causeway.

As I get more involved in marketing, I appreciate projects like this. I got to work closely with a few good friends who have taught me so much, specifically Mark Tesi and Eric and Mel Magaziner.

Tesi is the owner and creative force behind the Togetherness Agency, which operates out of Encinitas, CA. Watching his esthetic and learning from his work since the 90s, I can truly say he was ahead of his time. Since his first days in California, he has always put my work in front of people, affording me opportunities on the West Coast that I never would have gotten without his help.

I worked for Eric and Mel at Mud City and was on the first crew of bartenders when we opened the Black Whale  It’s amazing to be working with them again. Not only do they set the bar when it comes to quality seafood and experience, but they are committed to our local community and environment. Work is so much more rewarding when the people you work with share your ethics. Several of the spots have met the criteria for Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean-Friendly Restaurants and they’ve gone in on an oyster co-op with Barnegat Oyster Collective.

I grew up on the bay, fishing, clamming and crabbing. My grandfather was a pound fishermen. I’ve always loved highlighting our local water for that, so every day is exciting, especially going out and working with the baymen.

We did a full launch on five new websites, which the Togetherness team did a sensational job on the sites and graphics. And locally, I am always happy to work with photographer, Ryan Johnson.
